LANDBRIDGE TERMINAL

In 1984, we added the last link to the chain.  In order to complete the circle of transportation, we developed Land Bridge Terminal, in North Bergen, New Jersey, which became the first privately owned, double stacked facility in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area.  We built a 165,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility with 64 doors, on 16 acres of land, with 5,000 linear feet of rail, enabling us to receive up to 15 double stacked cars at one time. The terminal is able to hold over 500  40' containers on wheels at one given time.

This new concept allowed ocean carriers for the first time to unload their containers from double-stacked cars, directly into the first off-dock rail facility in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area. The railroads only allowed ocean carriers 24 hours free time to pick up their containers, therefore, forcing the carriers to incur additional trucking expenses and delaying the availability.  This new concept provided increased productivity, better transit times, and removed hundreds of truck movements per day off the New Jersey streets and roads. Due to the industry accepting this concept, there was a decrease in costs to the ocean carriers.

Resources has purchased an additional 100 acres of land in order to build a state-of-the-art intermodal facility to serve the ever increasing demand for efficient terminal operation.
